7/ 26 /00 Day 19, Wednesday, Well, we didn't think it was possible, but Zion National Park proved to have MORE different types of stone!! This year they began having shuttles take you through the park (May-Oct/no no private vehicles) It certainly helped with the traffic as the roads are VERY narrow. We got off at Sinawava to take the Riverwalk to the Narrows, an area that gets to 40 feet wide but rock walls 1300 feet high with the river running through! It was a two mile round trip in 105 degree weather...Craig took a picture of Lynn there to prove that she'd made it! When we couldn't take in any more of this beautiful inferno ;-), we drove to Page AZ to spend the night with a view of Lake Powell.
"Checker Board" Mesa Cliff looked like lava flow, but it wasn't, just odd wind erosion
Cliff - multi directional strata Virgin River Zion Canyon- Zion Nat'l Park
Lynn starting off on a 1 mile trail in 100+ degree heat Lynn made it 1 mile to "The Narrows" . What a trooper!!!
"The Narrows" 40 ft wide and 1300 ft high river bed and about 150 square miles drains through it. Water flowing out of the rock at the 700 ft level
Cliffs above "Temple of Sinawava" - Zion Nat'l Park Shear cliff looking up 1400 ft - Zion Nat'l Park
