7/ 10 /00 Day 3, Monday, on to Helena and the Capitol Building, then Marysville (a ghost town) in the hills outside of Helena. Seems that gold was the maker and breaker of these little towns! We spent the night in White Sulphur Springs MT. It's a 1000 population farming/logging town. 5 bars, 3 restaurants, a golf course, 2 gas stations, 6 motels (closest next major city is 74 miles), friendly people, a 25 mile view. Craig has driven about 50 miles, Lynn is the winner! (oops, this isn't a race...but Lynn did hit 95mph today)
Lynn communicating with the outside world Lynn is testing the waters, is 100MPH far away in the future. I don't think so.
Just past the Continental Divide. Down this valley to Helena, MT Sign telling the story of Marysvelle, MT.
More than 100 years ago this was a very active community Looking down on the main street of town
This piano has seen it's better day. The old saloon where it rests has a sign dating to 1887. 3 days into this adventure. Lynn is never far from the drivers door.
Capital building, Helena, MT. The area the capital was really pretty Auto exposure between the columns.
It is hard to tell from this picture, but that house was really big. This is one of many buietiful sunsets we will experience on this trip. |
